Yellow wins SuperGame XL! Edge Zero takes home Best Defense award

4th SuperGame, 4th win!

What an amazing event!Hardest battles we may have ever fought. Red team was no chump. They were aggressive, coordinated, and precise. An honor to battle against such a-determined to beat us-team. You guys earned all the territory you controlled, and nearly wiped us out trying to take back what we took from you. Thanks to the Red General, and the entire Red Army for a good honest fight.

As for my team, Edge Zero, I am so very proud of  you guys! Your Sportsmanship, skills, communication, and determination to win with integrity, make me proud to be part of this team. Thanks for playing alongside the "old man".

We had an awesome time! This time around, Edge Zero won the award for Best Defense.

Thanks to all who voted for that to happen, we are stoked to have been a part of the large battles that took place, and we are excited to have our small team recognized.
So many amazing battles, and great players out there it's hard to even write about what happened.

Thanks to Steve Linn (Yellow General) and his awesome crew from Eagle Squad for making us a part of your battle plan. We truly enjoyed playing for you, and with your guys (especially your medic!). Also, thanks to our good buddy Xaber (Jason from Crossfire) and his guys for rolling with us to help make things happen on the field. Levi, and the rest of Tri-Lambs, thanks for the fire support and flanks you guys pulled off out there, always an honor to play with you. A.C.I., We had a blast storming bases with you guys and lobbin' rockets. Can't wait to sling paint with you all again. Last but certainly not least, Dan, Derek, and crew from warpaint. As always you guys put the players first, and gave us a great weekend of sport, and fun.

SuperGame 39 After Action Report.

Written By our very own Corpy:

Supergame 39 After Action

Supergame XXXIX is at an end. Seems only yesterday we were starting the drive up to St. Paul. There we met with old friends and made new ones. Overall it was another fantastic experience and we look forward to doing it all again in August.

The weekend started with the Friday Night Ops. The Red Team dominated the night game. Turning back all the advances of the Yellow Team and capturing both objectives for an early lead of 200 to 0 over the Yellow Team.

The next day began a little late due to the safety orientation running long. However with the start of the game Yellow Team pushed hard and made it all the way to the road between the DMZ and Darkwood Fort in order to cut off the Red Team. The Reds then brought their PUG to bear on us and managed to drive back quite a bit of the Yellow advance. Shortly thereafter a freeze was called and then all players were ordered to clear the field. The freeze was called due to a player from Strength and Honor, Bryce Hotchkiss, suffered an Epileptic Seizure and needed to be CasEvaced from the field. After the weekend was over it was brought to the attention of the players that Bryce had succumbed to his injuries and passed away. As things were we did not know of this until later so the game continued shortly afterward with Yellow pushing back into the trees between DMZ and Darkwood. Yellow encountered heavy resistance in the backfield with Red making us pay for every inch and only after much effort were we able to push out of The Stix into The Swamp and onto Darkwood Hill. Once these positions were taken Yeager Beach fell quickly and thus began the push to The Hideout. The Hideout was to be the most hotly contested base for the entire weekend, if not one of the fiercest battles in Supergame history. Yellow pushed in and managed to take the base with relatively light opposition. However as we settled in to defend the objective the Red Team came down in force and soon what started as a minor engagement became a pitched battle. Both sides fought hard with most of both the Red and Yellow Teams converging on this one position. From my position right in the front there were occasions where the fire was so loud I couldn’t hear myself yelling at teammates and the amount of splatter coming down was so much that it may well have been raining orange paint. In the end the Red Team pushed hard and got their medic into the base where he managed to keep several players alive and allowed the Reds to capture The Hideout. However the Yellow Team made the Red Team fight for every inch and not without sacrifice. One of our own, Josh “Bullet” Greenough, was injured in the attempt to recapture Hideout. Running in with no weapon in a heroic attempt to get the points for Yellow Bullet tripped over a log and tore his ACL. A freeze was called and Josh was CasEvaced in one of the tanks from Red Team. During all the excitement at Hideout the remainder of the Yellow Team had taken control of the DMZ and was firmly holding the Red Team back from the objective there. After a breather in which we refit and rearmed Edge Zero joined them on the field to hold the DMZ as it was the final objective for the day. The Red Team pushed hard using their tanks and PUGs to push Yellow back away from the flag station however through the actions of our Heavy Weapons operators (dudes with rocket launchers) Yellow managed to turn back the armored thrust. However Red Team was inches from taking the DMZ objective and only through sheer volume of fire was it prevented from being captured. Thus the day ended and with the Yellow Team on top for the day, but still down 50 points overall from the Red victory the night before.

Sunday was different as a new rule was introduced. Anyone playing with a pump, pistol, or rocket launcher (with no semi-auto full size marker) was given double beads. Normally when a team captures a base each player gets two mardi gras beads and on the hour one bead. If you were one of the above mentioned players you got four beads on a flag capture and two on the hour. The day started slow again with Yellow pushing into the backfield and taking The Stix and Swamp. However Red quickly pushed back from their position at Darkwood and took Swamp nearly pushing Yellow back to where we couldn’t use Stix as a respawn base. Through the efforts of the Irregulators who took Darkwood and attacked the Reds in The Swamp from the rear was Yellow able to push out of Stix into The Swamp. From there Yellow swept up the hill to hit Yeager from behind. In a classic pincer formation half our force hit Yeager Beach from the road above (myself and Gex among them) and the other half hitting from below (Matches, Bok, Crunch). There was very little resistance as the Red Team only had a few defenders at Yeager Beach. From Yeager a very eager and excited Yellow team charged down the hill toward Hideout (Edge Zero in the lead). Red met us with heavy resistance, but this time Yellow was able to break through and take The Hideout. Red pushed hard and even brought their armor to bear on us in a valiant attempt to break us out of our positions around Hideout. However it was to no avail. Our Rocket Launchers tore apart their tanks and PUGs and our heroic medics managed to keep us in the fight (Mr.WaterBuffalo). Yellow was able to not only take the flag for the capture beads, but were also able to hold Hideout until the hour for the on the hour beads. However while we were fighting there a small force of Red had pushed up the hill while Hideout was neutral and taken Yeager behind us. After the base went live we pushed back up the hill (Edge Zero in the lead once again) and took Yeager back. Recapturing the base wasn’t difficult as there were only two enemy players at the base. This was a major plus for us as we had at least 35 players many of whom were carrying double points weapons. The rest of Edge Zero’s day pretty much consisted of going up and down the hill between Yeager and Hideout capturing and recapturing these two bases. However 45 minutes before game over Yeager was sparsely defended by Corpy and five others. A large force of Red players pushed up the hill and despite the valiant efforts of the defenders we were routed from our positions and pushed back to the base of Darkwood Hill. With the knowledge that a large contingent of Reds were going to bear down Darkwood and Swamp Corpy sent as many people as possible to The Swamp to guard the flank and we set ourselves up at the base of Darkwood Hill in order to set up a collapsing defense to buy time for the game to end. Only through the valiant efforts of the defenders was Swamp held (Xaber was very pleased to hear that they had held their ground). Red pushed hard up Darkwood Hill, pushing Edge Zero and the other defenders to the top of the ridgeline. The Red Team pushed up the hill in a savage assault that nearly turned our flank which would have caused our defense to collapse, thankfully Matches, Bullet, and Gex were on the flank. The defenders pushed back and held Red at bay. Reaver and Corpy in the center of the line with our Trilly pumps! Yellow held long enough for time to expire. The defenders then pulled back into Darkwood Fort for the final beads of the day. Yellow carried the day despite the valiant efforts of the Red Team coming back from 50 behind to a strong lead.

The final tally for the weekend was.

Yellow Team: 2350 +/- 50 points

Red Team: 1100 +/- 50 points

The Red Team fought tooth and nail for every point, but in the end Yellow prevailed. Edge Zero came away with another Victory Plaque and the prestigious Sportsmanship Award. Win or lose a great time was had by all and I look forward to doing it all again in August at Supergame 40, or Supergame XL!

Hope to see you there!
